Duke Beardsley

A fifth-generation Coloradan, Duke has been drawing and painting the American West for as long as he can remember. Formally trained at the Art
Center College of Design in Pasadena, Duke and his family now live and work in Denver. Duke’s work has been featured in Southwest Art, Western Art
Collector, American Cowboy, Western Horseman, The Denver Post, Robb Report, Equestrian andWestern Art Collector. In 2007, his work was featured in "Out West: The Great American Landscape," a groundbreaking traveling exhibition of contemporary American Western art that delighted audiences in museums across China. In 2008, Duke was honored as the selected artist for the Colorado Governor’s Art Award and he was the 2011 Artist of The Year elected by the Foothills Art Center Rock West Gala Committee in Golden, Colorado. He was the 2011 recipient of the William Weiss Purchase Award at the Buffalo Bill Art Show and Sale in Cody, Wyoming, and in 2012 he was selected to paint the 2013 Calgary Stampede commemorative poster. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions including The Coors Western Art Show, the Buffalo Bill Art Show and Sale, the Masters of the American West Exhibition, and The Colorado Governor’s Invitational Art Show; and is included in many notable private and public collections worldwide including the Denver Art Museum, The Booth Museum of Western Art, the Whitney Collection of Western American Art and the Forbes Collection. He is represented by Altamira Fine Art, Jackson, Wyoming; Due West Gallery, Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Visions West Gallery, Bozeman and Livingston, Montana, and Denver, Colorado. Duke cowboyed on ranches in his younger days, and still helps work cattle with friends and neighbors.

This unique 2009 Calendar features artwork from various artists who created posters for the Durango Cowboy Gathering. Included in it are the very first 1989 "MJB Cowboy Camp" poster and several Jim Rey and Tim Cox posters which are no longer available.
